This Beautiful Earth

My exquisite passage on Earth is the very Earth herself. She is the ultimate playground on which to hone awareness and do our best to live in profound harmony with everything. And deep in the darkness of the night I hope to sit peacefully upon the Earth looking up at the stars and the planets into infinity knowing that my existence is merely pure energy within the flow of oneness and freedom. ~ Female Warrior

  1. ‘He reminded me that I had read a poem to him once and wanted me to recite it. He cued me with a few words of it and I recalled having read to him some poems of Juan Ramon Jimenez. The particular one he had in mind was entitled “El Viaje Definitivo” (The Definitive Journey). I recited it.
and I will leave. But the birds will stay, singing:
and my garden will stay, with its green tree,
    with its water well.
Many afternoons the skies will be blue and placid,
and the bells in the belfry will chime,
as they are chiming this very afternoon.
The people who have loved me will pass away,
and the town will burst anew every year.
But my spirit will always wander nostalgic
in the same recondite corner of my flowery garden.
“That is the feeling Genaro is talking about, ” don Juan said. “In order to be a sorcerer a man must be passionate. A passionate man has earthly belongings and things dear to him -if nothing else, just the path where he walks.” ‘

For me, turning my back on the world of men was child’s play in comparison to the challenge of coming to terms with the compromising of the natural world. Pretty big deal, the connection to one’s planet threatened by the acts of the ignorant. Perhaps all one can do is take the next (but not the last) step: let it go… and look for the beauty that remains.

Call it indulgence, but I find comfort in knowing that most the garden (and the path) are still there.
