Gift from the Sea

One cannot dance well unless one is completely in time with the music, not leaning back to the last step or pressing forward to the next one, but poised directly on the present step as it comes. Perfect poise on the beat of what gives good dancing its sense of ease, of timelessness, of the eternal. ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Thank you so much, everyone, for your support in the release of my book. I am overwhelmed and delighted with your commitment to awareness and book sales to date!

I just returned from a four day regroup on the beach in Mexico. It was a major recapitulation and release of density; all of the stories, editing, and details that had been reeling through my mind in anticipation of releasing my book.

On the way to Mexico I picked up a small used book at a bookstore in Ajo, Arizona entitled, Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. I didn’t realize until the end, when I read about the author, that she was the wife of Charles Lindbergh.

The book was written in 1955, 61 years ago, and provides a wonderful perspective on the need for self-realization, simplification, expanded awareness, the importance of solitude, and of human connection. In her own words she spoke about the growth of consciousness and importance of freedom from the numerous distractions that prevent us from living authentically.

Through the author’s connection with the sea, a connection that greatly resembles my own, she ends her book with this wonderful summation of living life on Earth:

The waves echo behind me. Patience-Faith-Openness, is what the sea has to teach. Simplicity-Solitude-Intermittency … But there are other beaches to explore. There are more shells to find. This is only a beginning.

This earth walk is ephemeral and its transitory nature reminds us that it is but a small part of our journey.

Keep dancing along all the lines of awareness!

  1. I remember reading Anne’s book years ago and loving it so much. It was an early introduction to *awareness* but have never thought about that until you wrote it. So very happy about the creativity and sharing you’re allowing to dance through you…
