Busting Through Patterns

If the world is saved, it will not be saved by old minds with new programs but by new minds with no programs at all. ~ Daniel Quinn, Ishmael

A lot of people are talking about breaking patterns. My own walk on the Toltec Path is all about breaking patterns through erasing personal history, breaking the mold of man and recapitulation. These methods have been quite successful for many and assist one in heightening awareness, shifting the assemblage point and in providing the energy necessary to see.

We are conceived within a pattern, born into patterns, taught patterns from so many directions and then expected to maintain the patterns. Failure to do so has many consequences; however, maintaining the patterns is ultimately more destructive than breaking free of them. Patterns are maintained by consistently giving energy to a system of power. It only has power because of the fact that so many people maintain it. How do we diffuse the power of a system that is outdated? We stop feeding it.

I know this is easier said than done but it is not impossible. It takes work. It takes discipline. It takes courage, strength and commitment. In many instances it takes humility, unconditional love and determination. Many people utilize these traits regularly in order to maintain patterns; perhaps it’s time to collectively utilize them to break patterns.

Breaking patterns requires personal power or energy. And as a pattern is broken, personal power increases. This makes it easier to break the next pattern and so on. Daniel Quinn says that most people are trapped within the construct of “if it didn’t work last year then let’s do more of it this year. Faster, harder.” Well, if it didn’t work last year, 10 years ago, 100 years ago, or 1,000 years ago, it’s not going to work now and all you do in attempting to make it work is lose personal power while increasing the strength of the pattern.

The patterns are everything from saving the world to healing oneself to finding enlightenment to battles, religions, politics, etc. We need to remove ourselves from the patterns to be fully liberated. We need to recognize that the world doesn’t need saving, that you are already healed, that you are already enlightened, that through your free will you can choose how you want to engage in battles, religion, politics if at all.

When we take the time to sit within silent knowledge we are able to identify the patterns of the world. That there are patterns upon patterns and patterns within patterns. In Journey to Ixtlan, don Juan said, “we are beings who are going to die. There is no more time for what we used to do. Now you must employ all the not-doing I have taught you and stop the world. People tell us from the time we are born that the world is such and such and so and so, and naturally we have no choice but to see the world the way people have been telling us it. Seeing happens only when one sneaks between the worlds.

With this in mind, let’s treat ourselves to not-doing so we can stop the world. By so doing we can collectively see and then break the patterns that are keeping people prisoners to the stories of the patterns. This will liberate the planet and her inhabitants from a story that has been circulating for nearly 10,000 years.

To move the fixation of the planet is the only way out from the dramatic state of slavery to which we have been reduced. The course of our civilization has no exit, because we are isolated in a remote location of the cosmos. If we don’t learn how to travel along the avenues of awareness, we will come to such a state of frustration and despair that humanity will end up destroying itself. Our options are the way of the warrior, or extinction. ~ Carlos Castaneda, Encounters with the Nagual
