True Knowing Comes from Silence

“The main thing is that you realize that there is no such thing as ‘the teachings of Castaneda’. I just try to be direct and to act from my silence – a course of action which I recommend for you, because it does away with madness…If you want to verify the tales of power, you have to open up to experience. Don’t shield yourself behind your interpretations, because in spite of all our studies as modern, ordinary men, we know very little about the world.” ~ Carlos Castaneda, Encounters with the Nagual

Even though Carlos and Don Juan talked about specific practices that must be done in order to achieve certain goals, they empowered others to have their own experiences by connecting with silence – with the abstract. They put a lot of effort into ensuring that the path of freedom didn’t turn into a conventional or traditional path. One of my benefactors worked in the same manner. While imparting his wisdom and even traditional knowledge to me, he always encouraged me to work from my own vision. To verify things for myself and to avoid accepting another person’s words at face value.

seeing in a sacred manner

And while I stood there I saw more than I can tell and I understood more than I saw; for I was seeing in a sacred manner the shapes of all things in the spirit; and the shape of all shapes as they must live together like one being. ~ Black Elk

I have spoken before about unplugging from the man-made matrix; removing ourselves from the stories that hold us prisoner to fear, hate, ego, and dis-ease. The man-made matrix is essentially the dominant paradigm comprised of a system of beliefs that has been in place for thousands of years and perpetuates the separation of the human species from the earth, from all other beings, and from each other. This matrix exists, essentially, in all aspects of life. It infects our food supply, our oceans and rivers, our rain forests, our wildlife, our air. Our hearts, minds, and spirits are suffering as a result of everything this man-made matrix touches. It resembles a plague; a disease that vigorously attempts to infect everyone in its path. And since it is everywhere, we are all in its persistent path of destruction as it continually attempts to feed off of the life force of everything, ourselves included. The man-made matrix is the direct cause of all human suffering.

bridging earth and sky

As you descend into the heart and substance of the Earth, you will find Spirit alive and shining, waiting to assist you in your conscious upliftment. The gift of a connection with nature is the ability to communicate with and benefit from the great wisdom that awaits you there and to awaken yourself through that communion to a new level of being. ~ Brooke Medicine Eagle, The Last Ghost Dance

The power of the earth is unparalleled. For the past twenty years of my life I have been integrating the awareness of the Toltec path with the beauty of the sweat lodge space or temazcal as it is known in Latin American countries. The essential components of the sweat lodge are the four elements; earth, water, air, and fire. The essential components of the Toltec path are shifting the assemblage point from its fixated position in order to connect with intent and perceive in a new and more authentic manner. The joining of these two beautiful paths creates a bridge and the ability to connect with emptiness, silent knowledge, intent, the infinite mystery and the awesome awareness of the earth.

higher vibration – higher consciousness

When you become aware of silence, immediately there is that state of inner still alertness. You are present. You have stepped out of thousands of years of collective human conditioning. ~ Eckhart Tolle, Stillness Speaks

When we are aligned with the frequency of collective human conditioning we are aligned with density consciousness, a frequency that is heavy and causes our energy to vibrate at a lower frequency. Density consciousness has to do with the amount of merit we place, sometimes blindly, upon the stories that we’ve been told on how to assemble our realities in alignment with the human collective. This can cause us to feel as though we are dragging ourselves through our day (or life) with a lot of resistance, under the weight of the world so to speak.

Entering into silence grants us the opportunity to recognize our true, creative nature which in turn exposes our limiting beliefs. This allows us to release those limitations and move into states of higher consciousness which increases our energetic vibration and we become aligned with the natural energetic frequencies of the Earth.

mother earth – the essential mirror

Only if one loves this earth with unbending passion can one release one’s sadness. A warrior is always joyful because his love is unalterable and his beloved, the earth, embraces him and bestows upon him inconceivable gifts. The sadness belongs only to those who hate the very thing that gives shelter to their beings. – Don Juan, Tales of Power

Do you pay attentions to omens? I do. Yesterday I came across two images that I adore, posted by fellow warriors. The one at the top of this post is an image I have used on and off as my cover and avatar for many years. The picture below is from an eye-opening article entitled The Greening of the Self: The Most Important Development of Modern Times.

Beginning Again

Trust and surrender. Be in the flow. Raise your vibration. Heighten your awareness. Live authentically. Dream a new dream. Create your reality.

These are all wonderful thoughts, exquisite goals. There are multitudes of books, courses, seminars, and workshops available in the world for you to learn how to do these things. You can listen to tapes and watch videos and read every book that has ever been written in order to learn everything you need to know in preparation for this endeavor. But once you have all of the required knowledge will you actually make the choice to follow through?

Have you stopped to consider how our connection with the Earth facilitates the awakening of our vibrational frequencies, brings us to states of higher consciousness and into realms of deeper awareness. Sitting within silence allows us to become empty vessels through which the Spirit may flow. With our minds empty our thoughts become pure and our awakening reunites us with our connection with the universal life-force energy (intent) where we are able to witness the oneness of creation. When we witness the magical beauty of creation we are able to align with the silent flow of primal energy, thus leading to our own creative evolution.

What is Your Warrior’s Task?

A warrior is devoted to his task, he doesn’t waste his energy on following anybody. He doesn’t care about social customs, whether they may be contemporary or represent millennia of tradition. ~  Carlos Castaneda, Encounters with the Nagual

The last post was a reminder as to the knock of the spirit that brought you to this path or to the principles of the warrior’s journey. In reading your responses I got to thinking about a warrior’s task and wanted to quote some of the warrior’s tasks here.

“Don Juan explained that by using heightened awareness over thousands of years of painful struggle, sorcerers had gained specific insights into intent; and that they had passed these nuggets of direct knowledge on from generation to generation to the present. He said that the task of sorcery is to take this seemingly incomprehensible knowledge and make it understandable by the standards of awareness of everyday life.” ~ The Power of Silence

The Knock of the Spirit

He reminded me of something he had told me often: that volunteers were not welcome in the sorcerers’ world, because they already had a purpose of their own, which made it particularly hard for them to relinquish their individuality. If the sorcerers’ world demanded ideas and actions contrary to the volunteers’ purpose, the volunteers simply refused to change. ~ Carlos Castaneda, The Power of Silence

As a warrior of freedom for many years, it seemed to me that anyone had the ability to become one, just as one might choose to become a Buddhist, and it would often frustrate me to find that people would not choose to walk this path of knowledge and awareness above all others.

Committed to walking my path and maturing as a seer has brought to know that there truly are no volunteers on the path of sorcery. I blogged about this a little over a year ago in my post Volunteers in the Sorcerer’s World and since then I have come to an even greater understanding of what this means.

Others have incorporated components of sorcery into their writings and works that are grounded in a salvationism framework that many refer to as the Toltec Path. This is not a bad thing because so many people are walking the world in which their volunteer’s purpose can be or is instrumental in this manner and as a result, people are indeed evolving and even releasing the stories that keep them in an endless cycle of samsara and suffering. Evolution for ordinary man is slow and if people choose to walk in such a way as to fulfill their life’s purpose, all we can do is be a witness to their path as it unfolds.

Stillness at the Center

…it’s amazing how quickly people lose interest once you stop reflecting back their dramas…~ a warrior friend

Sometimes there is nothing to say. Sometimes there is nothing to feel. Sometimes there is nothing to express. And when we become pensive and quiet the world around us thinks that something is wrong and demands to know what it is. And if we don’t provide the reason, any reason, even when there is no reason, our apathy is rejected, those around us become insulted and turn on their heel as if we are to blame somehow for not providing them with glossy and exciting dramas with desires to be healed or fixed or needed.

Puppet Master or Warrior of Freedom?

A poorly conducted preparation for accessing sorcerer’s knowledge, one which encourages self-importance instead of increasing wonder and a desire to learn, becomes a near total obstacle for the apprentice. One who comes to the nagual saturated with beliefs on almost everything won’t get the chance to continue. Intent determines an ordinary man’s access to sorcerer’s knowledge. ~ CC

Intent. Nothing more, nothing less.

The sorcerer’s way is not a dogmatic religion that some would have you believe it is. It is not founded on protocol or structure. As Carlos points out, “Sorcerers make a clear distinction between the concepts of ‘spiritual guide’ and ‘nagual teacher’. The first is an individual who specializes in directing flocks, and the other is an impeccable warrior who knows that his role is limited to serving as a connection with the spirit. The first one will tell you what you want to hear and he will give you the miracles that you want to see, because you interest him as an acolyte; while the second will be guided by commands of an impersonal power.”
