Sorcerers abide by their experience. They have changed ‘believing’ for seeing. They speak of the spirit, not because they believe in its existence, but because they have seen it. Silence is a passageway between worlds. When our mind stays silent, incredible aspects of our being emerge. Starting from that moment, a person becomes a vehicle of intent, and all his acts begin to ooze power. Don Juan recommended intending inner silence directly. ~ Carlos Castaneda,Encounters with the Nagual
And so it was, an ordinary weekend just like any other. The weather was perfect and the warriors gathered together, some meeting each other for the first time. A combined intention to dance awake a new dream had been created months earlier and we each knew by connecting with intent that we were not creating a new dream, we were simply opening ourselves in our connecting link with intent to allow a new dream to emerge.
In order to reach the third point of reference one must perceive two places at once. The third point of reference is freedom of perception; it is intent; it is the spirit; the somersault of thought into the miraculous; the act of reaching beyond our boundaries and touching the inconceivable. ~ Don Juan,The Power of Silence
The reference points of sorcerers are not the reference points of ordinary man. For ordinary man, points of reference are typically personal, what they’ve done and what they plan to do; a form of self-reflection and a way to justify present or future behaviors based on the past which ultimately leads to nothing more than repetitive patterns usually based on their own patterns, someone else’s patterns or interpretations of patterns complete with justification to those patterns.
When the assemblage point assembles a world, that world is total. This is the marvel that the old seers stumbled upon and never realized what it was: the awareness of the earth can give us a boost to align other great bands of emanations, and the force of that new alignment makes the world vanish. Since both the earth and man are sentient beings, their emanations coincide, or rather, the earth has all the emanations present in man and all the emanations that are present in all sentient beings, organic and inorganic for that matter. When a moment of alignment takes place, sentient beings use that alignment in a limited way and perceive their world. Warriors can use that alignment either to perceive, like everyone else, or as a boost that allows them to enter unimaginable worlds. ~ Don Juan,The Fire From Within
What would happen if enough people got together and made a conscious choice to change the dream of the planet? It is said that the patterns that we continuously repeat are duplicated because they are a repetitive dream that keeps playing itself over and over in the same way. Maybe different words, different cultural aspects, different modalities and yet, it’s always the same story, the same pattern. Carlos spoke briefly about the mitote and Don Miguel Ruiz clarified its meaning by saying the mitote ceremony is a sacred ritual in dreaming performed through the night. It has been passed down through the various Toltec lineages as a means to transform one’s own personal dream. It works to transform the individual’s dream on multiple dimensions.
According to Don Juan, massive changes in energy are happening at the present time, which will inevitably cause the emergence of a new cycle of warriors. To differentiate them from their predecessors, I have called them modern seers, or seers of the new era. ~ Carlos Castaneda,Encounters with the Nagual
The Toltec Path blog has been up for one year and has visitors from over 80 countries and a growing number of subscriptions. First let me thank everyone who takes the time to read the content on this site and to those who offer their perceptions and ideas. My dedication as a warrior of freedom spans most of my lifetime and this blog has provided me with the realization that that there are a lot more of you out there than I had previously thought. Some of you may not utilize the syntax that is predominantly used here or associate yourselves with some of the predilections that are described her, yet you know in your heart that you are a warrior of freedom, a Toltec by nature, and that’s all that really matters.
The passageway into the world of shamansopens up after the warrior has learned to shut off his internal dialogue. ~ Carlos Castaneda
The shaman or nagual resides in each of us. While some may be more advanced, the realm of shamanism encompasses levels of heightened awareness that are available to anyone. Shaman are the walkers on the wind, those who live on the precarious edge of existence, able to access knowledge at will and enter into dream, altered states, parallel realities by connecting with intent. They are healers, dreamers, creators, manifestors, teachers, communicators, mediators, record keepers, and more.
A recent discussion with a long-time friend who has walked this warrior’s path raised some good questions about the energy of this paradigm potentially becoming a trap when a person attempts to understand it on the deepest levels. This conversation has come up before and this seemed like a good time to discuss it.
Castaneda’s books are an incredibly detailed account of his journey of awareness. The books are, at times, repetitive and even contradictory but his point was to drive home the larger awareness in a way that could be perceived and understood by almost all people. For years my advice to aficionados has been to “connect to the energy behind the words”. As a woman, this is easy for me. Most men on this path approach the stories with much more ration than is possible for me thereby making the stories a necessity for them.
One of the most misunderstood words presented by Castaneda is “intent”. In his books, he creatively intertwines the multiple meanings of intent with each other which leads most to focus on creating an intention or intending something rather than simply aligning with intent. But, aligning with intent is not simple.
The dictionary version of the definition for intent includes:
1. firmly directed or fixed; earnest; intense; an intent look
2. having the mind or attention firmly directed or fixed; engrossed intent on his studies
3. strongly resolved intent on going
1. an act or instance of intending
2. something intended;
3. one’s mental attitude, including purpose, will, determination, etc., at the time of doing an act
