Freedom from Bad Habits

There are three kinds of bad habits which we use over and over when confronted with unusual life situations. First, we may disregard what’s happening or has happened and feel as if it had never occurred. That one is the bigot’s way. Second, we may accept everything at its face value and feel as if we know what’s going on. That’s the pious man’s way. Third, we may become obsessed with an event because either we cannot disregard it or we cannot accept it wholeheartedly. That’s the fool’s way. ~ Don Juan, Tales of Power

Denial. The state of turning a blind eye when current circumstances are discarded so one can feel as though it never occurred. The majority of humanity is in state of denial. They want so badly to believe that everything is okay just the way it is and with the exception of a bit of lip service in order to wow their friends through the initiatives they claim to take, they do little to effect change.

The Ruthlessness of a Warrior

Man’s predicament is that he intuits his hidden resources, but he does not dare use them. This is why warriors say that man’s plight is the counterpoint between his stupidity and his ignorance. Man needs now, more than ever, to be taught new ideas that have to do exclusively with his inner world – shamans’ ideas, not social ideas, ideas pertaining to man facing the unknown, facing his personal death. Now, more than anything else, he needs to be taught the secrets of the assemblage point. ~ Don Juan, The Power of Silence

This quote speaks of the fixation of the assemblage point of the earth. The fixation is a man-made assemblage that tells us that there is only one story on earth, one way to live and that until we are able to live in this single manner, and we will have no choice but to perfect ourselves in order to align with it. While there are multiple ways to align with the story, the point is conformism and compliance to a system of beliefs founded and grounded on authority, control and over-consumption.

Radical Separation

Listen to your being. It is continuously giving you hints; it is a still, small voice. It does not shout at you, that is true. And if you are a little silent you will start feeling your way. Be the person you are. Never try to be another, and you will become mature. Maturity is accepting the responsibility of being oneself, whatsoever the cost. Risking all to be oneself, that’s what maturity is all about. ~ Osho

We have entered a time of radical separation for so many people. I would like to include a piece from the Ralph Blum book of runes for the Rune Othila.

A New Dream

When the assemblage point assembles a world, that world is total. This is the marvel that the old seers stumbled upon and never realized what it was: the awareness of the earth can give us a boost to align other great bands of emanations, and the force of that new alignment makes the world vanish. Since both the earth and man are sentient beings, their emanations coincide, or rather, the earth has all the emanations present in man and all the emanations that are present in all sentient beings, organic and inorganic for that matter. When a moment of alignment takes place, sentient beings use that alignment in a limited way and perceive their world. Warriors can use that alignment either to perceive, like everyone else, or as a boost that allows them to enter unimaginable worlds. ~ Don Juan, The Fire From Within

What would happen if enough people got together and made a conscious choice to change the dream of the planet? It is said that the patterns that we continuously repeat are duplicated because they are a repetitive dream that keeps playing itself over and over in the same way. Maybe different words, different cultural aspects, different modalities and yet, it’s always the same story, the same pattern. Carlos spoke briefly about the mitote and Don Miguel Ruiz clarified its meaning by saying the mitote ceremony is a sacred ritual in dreaming performed through the night. It has been passed down through the various Toltec lineages as a means to transform one’s own personal dream. It works to transform the individual’s dream on multiple dimensions.

Constant Movement

Dreams are, if not a door, a hatch into other worlds. As such, dreams are a two-way street. Our awareness goes through that hatch into other realms, and those other realms send scouts into our dreams. For us to perceive those other realms, not only do we have to covet them but we need to have sufficient energy to seize them. Their existence is constant and independent of our awareness, but their inaccessibility is entirely a consequence of our energetic conditioning. ~ Carlos Castaneda, The Art of Dreaming

The other evening I was dreaming and a scout appeared. This scout repeated the same three things over and over and again while allowing me to perceive a most amazing spectacle. First let me tell you what he said. Recapitulate. Shift Your Assemblage Point. Keep Moving.

Busting Through Patterns

If the world is saved, it will not be saved by old minds with new programs but by new minds with no programs at all. ~ Daniel Quinn, Ishmael

A lot of people are talking about breaking patterns. My own walk on the Toltec Path is all about breaking patterns through erasing personal history, breaking the mold of man and recapitulation. These methods have been quite successful for many and assist one in heightening awareness, shifting the assemblage point and in providing the energy necessary to see.

You are the Sea of Eternal Awareness

You are the sea of eternal awareness lapping on the shores of time. You are the way universal energies interface with a geographical world. You are the being of life touching a temporal domain, interpreting a matter world through a filter of humanity. As a human being you objectify the relationship between local spirit and local matter, projecting a body to assist you in becoming a lens through which universal consciousness can view localities of ever-unfolding dimension. You are a wave of eternity splashing upon this temporal shore, the Star Maker awakening beneath a sensuous film of water and biologically textured clay. You are a single field of awareness containing multitudes of constituent beings, each of whom individualizes certain of your qualities, aspects and interests.

Impeccability and the Heart Sutra

The state of no pity is surprising. One attempts to reach it step by step, through years of continuous pressure, but it happens suddenly, like an instantaneous vibration that breaks our mold and allows us to look at the world with a serene smile. For the first time in many years, we feel free of the terrible weight of being ourselves, and we see the reality that surrounds us. Once there, we are not alone. An incredible push awaits us, help which comes from the core of the Eagle and transports us in a microsecond to universes of sobriety and sanity. When we don’t have any pity for ourselves, we can face the impact of our personal extinction with elegance. Death is the force that gives the warrior value and moderation. ~ Carlos Castaneda, Encounters with the Nagual

Carlos goes on to say that when we can truly see the reality that surrounds us, once we have completely gotten out of our own way, that we can make interpretations as far as our attention will allow and that every single action counts because each action releases avalanches into the infinite. Witnessing this universal bond, the warrior is prey to contradictory feelings. On the one hand, indescribable joy and a supreme and impersonal reverence toward all that exists. On the other hand, a sense of the inevitable and a deep sadness that has nothing to do with self-pity; a sadness that comes from the breast of infinity, a blast of solitude which will never leave her again.

Destroying the Man-Made Matrix One Line at a Time

Every one of us human beings has two minds. One is totally ours, and it is like a faint voice that always brings us order, directness, purpose, the other mind is a foreign installation. It brings us conflict, self-assertion, doubts, hopelessness: it’s ourselves as the me-me center of the world. ~ Don Juan, The Active Side of Infinity

Not much has been said with regard to female warriors throughout the Castaneda books. Taisha Abelar and Florinda Donner wrote books in order to offer a female perspective of female sorcerers though the teachings that they had received from some of the elder women in don Juan’s party. Most of their writings were an attempt to guide women into becoming free from a male-dominated, patriarchal world which they believed held them captive and perpetuated an energy of being preyed upon and to exist in a role of subservience. Little was said about the power of the feminine energy that has the potential to dream a new dream here on earth, while systematically destroying the ancient lines that support and maintain this current paradigm, particularly by those women who are committed to the warrior’s path.

The Importance of Silence for Warriors

Silence is a passageway between worlds. When our mind stays silent, incredible aspects of our being emerge. Starting from that moment, a person becomes a vehicle of intent, and all his acts begin to ooze power. ~ Carlos Castaneda, Encounters with the Nagual

Don Juan affirmed that we spend our lives regurgitating an endless list of opinions on almost everything. We receive thoughts in clusters; one connects with the other one, until the entire space of the mind is packed full. That noise has no use, because, practically in its entirety, it is devoted to the enlargement of the ego.

Most people are no longer willing to be silent. They want to fill their lives with noise and activity, to listen to something or to say something or to do something. Cell phones, computers, iPods, video games, noisy cars, trains, airports, television, night-clubs, shopping malls, the endless drone of incessant chatter, email, social networks; all contribute to the constant bombardment of incoming stimuli. External stimulation is taking its toll and serving to disconnect people from the power of silence and the source of all things.
